Hari Iyer TL speakers

Does anyone on this forum own or has listened to speakers made by Hari Iyer? Are they more open and transparent sounding, with low colouration, as compared to bass reflex designs? Are they more sensitive than most others now in the market? How is the quality of construction?

I ask because most Hari Iyer speaker owners are in Mumbai and I have not yet travelled there to audition them.

Regards.

I could see a lot of threads asking for the feedback. Can you tell what all speakers and equipments have you auditioned till now along with the feedback or your impression on them so that it will be useful for others who are in the same boat.

miroflex, I have not heard Hari Iyers TL speakers. But from whatever experience I have of TL speakers, I have a high regard for that school of thought.

Miroflex, What I have listened to were DIY creations by members like Suri, Soundsgreat etc and those speakers were nothing short of fantastic imho.

Hi Miroflex

Some members like iaudio, denom, srinivas have listened to Soundsgreat's TL speakers and all have said they are in a different league

If you are traveling to Bangalore anytime you can contact Soundsgreat and have a listen to them. Also listen to AP's speakers if they are for demo

Since Delhi will be near to you, why dont you even audition Viren ji's speakers specially the Amity

Sorry to reply let.Yes I heard it at Hari's place which is not very big & acoustically treated.
Same place in the earlier link posted by gopid..SW in the image was not in order & I listened the newer one.
I played some music & movie clips.Amp connected was Denon AVR & DNM multich amp for subwoofer input. The TL sub had only 6in single woofer at bottom.

Now with music it is worth & sub really goes deeper upto 40-50Hz.I could hear clear lower end. This sub can be used in 6 X 6' room for lower end only. Why I say it as I was not happy with its HT performance.SW was not well under control.I somehow felt that it couldnt handle mid Bass say 100-120Hz that well.

When I discussed with Hari,he said 8 in woofer sounds much better than this one due to smaller cone size.I can say the small sub also can do better if used with dedicated SW amp than a multich amp of DNM for it.

In short a good performer with music & loose control with HT viewing.

Yeah. The TL implementations that i have experienced at both Suri's and Sreekanth's place were,...nothing short of phenomenal. To my ears ;).

Cheers

So far I have been able to listen only to PSB speakers with NAD turntable, phono stage and amplifier. Also JBLs with a Denon amp and an iPod as a source. I reproduce my impressions below:

"I recently travelled out of Allahabad and heard a NAD 326 BEE amplifier connected to a NAD 555i turntable and PP3 pre-amplifier through PSB speakers (Image B6 and later Image T5). The sound was detailed and analytical but slightly laid back.

I also had the chance of listening to a Denon PMA-700AE paired wthe JBL floorstanders (model not known) and found that it delivered punchier bass and a brighter treble. As the sound source was an iPod, detailed comments on sound qualty would be unfair to this system."

I am yet to travel to other places to listen to various systems.

Regards.
