Hi

If i recall correctly, this AVR model is more than 2 decades old. Obviously, the issues / symptoms being shown by the AVR is clearly a sign of weak components / capacitors on the motherboard.

It is very hard to find skilled repairers who do component level repairing. Today we have only Board level repairers who replace the entire board which is an expensive affair.

Given the model is very old, finding spares / parts is a huge challenge.

Till the issue is determined and what needs to be replaced then only you can hunt for spares (provided its available).

I had a Yamaha RX V440 (6.1) which I purchased in Dec 2003, used it till 2012 then handed over to my brother in law who used till it gave away in 2019 due to weakening components. Sold it to someone out side Mumbai who found a skilled repairer in Maharashtra near his village and brought it back to life! He used it for a couple of years more.

Maybe its time to let go and get another capable AVR as you may end up possibly spending the same amount on repairs.

I would encourage OP to try to repair it
1. That era of Harman Kardon had very Robust power supplies.
2. THey sound good. I have a Harman Kardon 3550 from 2002-04 as my daily driver.
3. They last longer as compared to the newer models which are designed to be of shorter life.
4. The main components that need to be replaced are the capacitors. that's not that rocket sciencey a job.

Have you tried changing the source? Means is this happening with digital inputs, analog inputs or both. Have you tried resetting the avr?

Have you tried resetting the avr?
Resetting tried but this model I few ways tried to reset, no way.
Source I didn't change it was working but one by one channel lost sound , finally no sound, few advised no major issues, might be fault in 65v rail failure, no bulging of capacitor or damage inside, clean.
Find vintage hifi repair engineer, problem can be..
