Dear all,

I have just bought Samsungs LED model number UA40EH5000R from thailand, I already have logitech Z906. Hence the problem. I discovered the TV has no optical and the HT system (I am using it as same) has no HDMI input. I am lost  Is there an effective solution to this and not very expensive :((

it a stereo pin audio out however you can directly connect your z906 via optical or coaxial digital to your stb. For movies it wold be better if you buy a cheap hard disk media player from asus / western digital and connect its optical out to the logitech for dd / dts surround.

Source should be the LED, powered by normal tatasky STB ( I think it would not have any optical output). the recvr is the z906 that shall throw out the sound.

None, but LR output would kill the 5.1 channel output, won't it.
Yes that would. But you don't have any other option. Does your TV have ARC? If yes, you could try HDMI to coaxial converter.
With the TV headphone out to Logitech RCA in, you could use Dolby Pro Logic/DTS Neo setting in Logitech. That would give you pseudo 5.1.

I am bit confused. If the source is normal tata sky STB and not HD, will it have any audio information in 5.1 configuration? I doubt.

In a normal "NON HD" STB there is no need of a digital connection for audio. Even analog 2 channel audio can be used for DTS Neo /Dolby Prologic IIx.

Only HD STBs need digital audio output as HD channels have sound in Dolby Digital.

Exactly. That is what I am confused about. If OP is using normal STB, why is he looking for digital connetcion?

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
