What is the maximum length of an HDMI cable that can be used to connect a PC to the LED/LCD HD TV without any loss in quality?

Can anyone post the price for hte same?
Reliable Brands?

I have a 40 inch bravia LED and wish to connect it to the pc once i shift the TV to a different location in the same room.

Currently my CPU is on the floor just below the Bravia LED where it is mounted on a wall bracket, that means i am using it as a display via the usual PC display port.

How much did it cost you for 5 metre?

Does 1.3p or 1.4p the specifications of the HDMI cable?

Any other info needed while buying an HDMI?

i bought 5m HDMI 1.3 for 525 less 10% discount from ebay. i bought it for connecting my PC with HDTV. works just fine

Couple of months back I bought MX HDMI cable (1.3b) - 1.8 m for 450 bucks. Its moulding (of the one of the end which is supposed to be inserted in devices for signal) has given up so now of no use.

Now I have bought NIKKO HDMI cable (1.4) - 3 m for 375 bucks from Lamington Road. Works fine.

And what assurance do you have the moulding of the new one will not also give up. But then if you are ready to get a new cable 3 or 4 months, that is also a good option.

Cheers

Thats the point mate. MX is a reliable name for cables, but then also I faced problem. And frankly speaking spending anymore than 500 Rs. on an HDMI cable (which carries DIGITAL signal) doesn't make sense to me (as either they'll tranfer data correctly - we get picture/sound or they don't - we will not get any picture/sound). :D

Btw I choose Nikko this time because of some good reports from friends, otherwise I was planning to stick to MX this time as well.

Friends ....HDMI /RCA cable made from bare copper either CCA (gauge size may be diffrent for speckers cable but got RCA and HDMI any gauge no problem easily tranfer signal to 3~5 meter cables ...when you increased length there is certain losses collusions ...CCA /copper 5 meter ok for transmitting any signal traveled to HDMI port ,....thats signaling no question Either use 1.4 a ( for high speed Ethernet return and newsiest 3d technology) or 1.3 HDMI more length use HDMI splitters for 100 % signal transfer to another room .

Any extension will suffer signal loss but some are not as significant and acceptable to what is required. Some equipment have built-in regulator as it regulate (maintain) the signal characteristic close to specified level.
its wont be noticeable,go a head on ur extension process buddy.

take example of Lan cable , have you observed 5~10 meterot try 50~60 meter lan cable .....you will always get full data rate on Lan side ....why because there is no colussion or data losses on small lentgh coz CCA or Copper conductor can easily pass fluke test (testing procedure by fluke test meter by putting bit manually /Automatically data )
then 70~100 meter always data loss on CCA because they will never pass fluke testing .....make sense......

I have tried 1.4 which I purchased from ebay... I did not like the reception quality of 1.4... Switched back to 1.3b which was offered by Tata Sky.

You mean to say signal quality of 1080i content from tata sky, or you have a 1.4 source player and content?

Ideally 1.4 is better than 1.3,so what PQ difference was found?
Is it brightness?colour OR other?

i suppose there cannot be any difference, as the source doesn't change..
the cable has the capacity to carry more data (bandwidth), but is used only to the level 1.3a
