headunit recommendation

now i want a good headunit , so that i can get the best out the above combination

headunit requirement :
simple 1din, with cd player/ aux / radio /

focus is on getting good quality headunit, rather an display

There are many good brands like alpine, pioneer, Kenwood, jvc. If you are on search of used one, I have one Kenwood KDC-X8016.

The best HU with audiophile grade sound you can get right now is JVC KD-R90BT or Pioneer 80PRS. While JVC will retail somewhere around 13-14K, Pioneer will be retailing around 18-24K. Blame on the fluctuating dollar rates. You won't go wrong with any of these HU's. Good luck with your purchase.

I would fully agree with Lvramanan. I have 80PRS and it sounds better than most of stock Setup of even E segment cars. The 5-6K price price over is justified by more and more Audiophiles choosing 80PRS over JVS as 80PRS borrows more from purer Audiophile P80RS and 99PRS.

If you have taste of more purist, you can find in the used market Eclipse CD7200 MK-ii or a Mcintosh which can blow your mind. But be ready to carry the CDs as they dont play WAV.

I don't see people recommending Blaupunkt much. I liked the sound of it though. Sound of JVC is kind of on the brighter side I guess. Alpine is a good choice. I have heard a 'made in france' Kenwood HU bought from UK and

the sound is good with equal emphasis on all the fq (low,mid,hi), better compared to what we get here. For vfm, I liked Panasonic HU much with good mid fq and decent low and hi fq. Pioneer is a brand I have seen/heard in

most cars I have come across and some models (mid-fi to hi-fi) sounds good and some sounds mediocre. For focal speakers, Alpine or Kenwood HU would do justice it seems.

Am using JVC KDR-90BT with Rainbow Dreamline Component speakers and can vouch that the HU is worth every penny. Brilliant warm tone and Time Align feature wonders for me. Brings me spot on imaging.

Pioneer DEH-80PRS man. You can't go wrong.

I am using it for nearly two years. Even today, no HU can beat it.

a friend of mine is selling Mcintosh Mx 406 ... which runs only Audio Cds !!

it is above all Kenwood / Sony / Pioneer you get in Indian market !

and will run the equipment you already have in excellent way !


also do not forget to damp the doors of your car !
