Hi experts,

I did quite a lot of browsing about home theatre and I am confused like hell. I need expert advice from you guys. My room size is 15ft breadth* 22ft width and it is a living cum dining room in an apartment. I thought of buying Onkyo HTS 9300 (THX certified). Since my room is not too big (15ft* 25ft living and dining combined) I thought I will go for onkyo HTS 9305 (THX certified) which is a 5.1 system and the other one is 7.1 (expecting that cost will be less). I am not sure HTS9305 is available in India. In US already HTS 9400 is available which is good in upscaling videos compared to HTS 9300 and much cheaper as usual. HTS 9300 is Rs 70,000 in Bangalore .
In US HTS9400 is available at around $1000 and in India low end model at higher cost.

I know that for regular music it is better to go for Tower speakers (from Elac ,KEF,Polk Jamo, Tannoy etc) instead of HTS9300.I liked tower speakers performance from Elac.Only thing total system will become expensive.
. My usage will be 50% music and 50% movies. I am bit worried if I go for tower speakers, the sound levels will be higher and will it cause some disturbance for neighbors. I have one French window (glass) but it comes in the hall. But considering long term I should go for tower speaker and add satellites, centre and subwoofer.

Is it better to go for a THX certified receiver from Onkyo or Denon 1912 and two tower speakers and add sub woofer and satellites gradualy or I should go for a home theater in box like Onkyo HTS9300 which is THX certified receiver and speakers. Considering my room size which one is better?
Please advice.

Thanks in advance.

HI Renjit,
My requirement is exactly same as yours, even our approach towards buying the HT system seems to be same :). Hoping you came to some solution for your problem ,if yes please share what you ended up with.. i too am located at bangalore.

Hello Renjith, what did you buy? Any updates?

Sorry for the late reply, I was not checking it regularly. I went for Onkyo 609 and PSB Image T6 tower speakers. Then I added the centre C5 from PSB. Rear surround I am using sony speakers.
If you are keen on music than movies then you need a stereo amp.
Mid range AVRs may not be good for music but will be good for movies.

If you need any other info let me know.
