Hi,

I have been running a 5.1 setup with Marantz SR5007 receiver which is a 7.2 channel receiver. The 5 speakers are all Monitor Audio M series with 6 ohms as impedance (fronts bi amped). This is all connected to my projector for watching movies.

Is it possible to connect a pair of 8 ohms booksheleves as speaker set B for listening to stereo as well as casual TV watching ? There is a provision of attaching an additional set of speakers as speaker set B (using the additional 2 channels 7 vs 5). I assume that A and B set are not used together hence the query ?

I know that I will then have to get rid of the biamping in my present set up though.

Any suggestions will be most welcome.

The reason for using speaker set B is to connect an apple tv 2 which is connected to my TV for watching youtube. Initially I thought of using zone 2 for the apple tv but the AVR has only analogue in for zone 2 and the apple tv only outputs digital (toslink) :-( So instead of buying a DAC or something more expensive, i just thought of using this other option.

Thanks in advance and wish you a great year ahead

As long as you are using Speakers A

OR

Speakers B...... NO PROBLEM

If you are using Speakers A & B ... avoidable or keep the volume low.

You can,Marantz doesnt have impedence selection setting like Yamaha. So I guess it automatically get set with 8 ohm speakers.
