Hello all
My new home is at a stage where I have to pre-plan now and perhaps pre-install the networking stuff within the next few days.
1. I have a small basement (1200 sq feet) with a dedicated audio room (14x22feet) at the back of the basement. The ground floor (GF) has a guest bedroom and a media room with a TV and a decent home theater in at least 7.2.4 configuration. I have already bought Focal 948 towers, CC900, Acurus A2007 amplifier, Emotiva BasX A7, and a Crown XLS2502. The first floor (FF) has three bedrooms, one of which is less important than the other two.
2. I plan to bring a fiber optic cable to the stairs on the GF and route the multiple Ethernet cables to all the rooms on GF and FF, including the basement and media room. I want to use the space under the stairs for networking and computer-related desktop stuff, like the router, switches, printer, laptop and desktop, etc
3. I will also install 10-12 CCTV cameras with switches, a monitor, and NVR under the staircase.
4. All my amplifiers, AVR, and related HT stuff will also be kept under stairs and will route the HDMI cable to the TV on the front wall.
Please guide me on how to go about it.
1. For example, should I route all the cables from near the router under the stairs or use switches for front/back or GF/FF separately?
2. Which one to use, Cat 6e or Fiber cable? 2nd option will be much more expensive.
3. Should I install Home network and CCTV system on entirely different switches, or will it be too complicated and more expensive? If yes, how to go about it?
Please also suggest any brand you would like to recommend for all of the above stuff. I also don't want to go overboard with much more expensive switches and cables, and would like to keep close to 1L for all of the above, except the labour.
I will also have wifi network for laptops, tablets, and phones in the form of a cheaper mesh network or a few routers lying around in my home.
