help needed in buying 40/42" LCD/PLASMA

Hi All,

I have gone thru so many threads here but still could not make a decision. My requirement is

• I need a 40/42 LCD/Plasma
• I mainly watch HD Movies in it. Using USB 1GB HDD
• HD DTH I may opt for.
• Viewing distance is 8-10 Ft.
• Room is brightly lit but can make it darker.
• No gaming, not much Cable TV.
• Can Buy a separate 5.1 set up. So TV audio is not imp I feel.
• Budget is 50k
• Residing in Bangalore.
• Inclined towards Samsung, in Devi International(Have a very good experience with them).

Please can someone help me in deciding? I am no expert in pic quality/pixel burnout etc. Please suggest.

You need to demo carefully and decide if its LCD\LED or plasma that you wish to go for. If its Plasma, I would suggest to go with a Panny.

Plasma's start at 42 inch onwards, Panny plasma's handles divx files (SD and HD) through usb, provided file system is fat32, no mkv or mp4 support. However my personal advice USB playback feature is not the USP here, the panel is. Get a media player like Asus Oplay mini if u want to play various file formats and is upgradable to new formats.

If u are picking a full hd plasma form Panny u might have to stretch ur budget to another 10 k or so. If you are strictly planning within 50k for 40inch or above then your options are limited for a full hd set be it LCD or Plasma unless u opt for the Grey route. All LCD's at 40 inch also kinda cross the 60-65k + margin with taxes

In that case pick a hd ready 42 inch plasma for abt 36k and use the remaining to buy a AVR. Or pick a 32inch full hd LCD there are lot of threads where its been discussed.

I think you meant 1TB HDD , 1GB is not supported its too low
