Please suggest

Thanks in Advance.

Thanks theironhorse, I have gone through demo of philips HTS3373(1000 RMS). I have to check with ONKYO.

Any other suggestions.pls post.

Thanks theironhorse, I have gone through demo of philips HTS3373(1000 RMS). I have to check with ONKYO.

Please be aware that RMS is a very misused term to determine the power output of an amplifier. RMS means the average power when reproducing a single
tone, but its not actually the Root Mean Square value of the power. When you play music, you will never get 1000 RMS as specified by manufacturers. This is used to represent an artificially high figure.

Cheers

Hi,

Venkat sir, does the same logic apply to PMPO? Isnt this also misleading the consumers? a layman will be elated seeing 6000 W:eek: pmpo.

Cheers!

PMPO is even more misleading than RMS. PMPO refers to Peak Momentary Performance Power. This is also specified with any reference to distortion. There is no global standard for PMPO and manufacturers use whatever they fancy. For example in a 5 channel amp, if the amp can deliver 10 watts for a few milliseconds of sine wave power, the PMPO is calculated as twice that. So the manufacturer will claim the system to have 5 * 20 or 100 watts PMPO. This is completely useless as it does not measure continuous power, nor does it measure power measured as all channels driven. In addition, THD and SNR are never considered.

On a realistic level, you can take anywhere between 30 to 40% of the specified PMPO as the real power of the amp.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

Please send me some more options and which is better in Phillips and Onkyo?
Pls help me with the basic things that I have to check while purchasing a Home Theater.

glolla ...depends what sound note u like..onkyo is good...but only for movies..philips wud do good in both music and movies..also philips u get a dvd player..however for onkyo u need to get additional dvd plarer with hdmi out put so add an extra 5k for that...

also chk for yamaha i guess its with **yht195** not sure for model but available for 24 change.. its 500 w rms and **denon 390 xp 500w rms again** is for 29k at croma..

onkyo's are good however i found it to be distorting and unclear at high volume.. philips was clear... onkyo sub was actually moving all over the ground inspite of being properly spiked... depends what u like..both are good..both of em got there pros and cons.. however again if u want to enjoy music as well.....philips.....

Thanks Deba,

Can you pls help me out with the "Model Name/Number" and the factors tha i have to take care of.

Hi theironhorse

As I like to watch movies and listen to music too, I would go for Philips. Thanks a lot.
