Help regarding surround sound..

So i have a 5.1 channel DVD player that has DOlby Pro Logic 2 decoder, if i connect its output to an amplifier that doesnt have dolby pro logic 2 decoder will i get a 5 channel output or a downgraded one......

Whats up with simulated 5.1 ch surround sound and the real...

Please guys help me clear this...

what do own.avr r stereo amp.if its stero amp then u will get only two channel.if u got multichannel amp u can connect anolog out of ur player .so that u can get surround sound.correct me if iam wrong.
