Hi all...

It has happened on a number of occasions that we audition something in the dealers acoustically treated room and like it. However we are not so enamoured with the sound once the kit starts playing in our untreated multi-purpose rooms.

The room plays a very large part in how a system sounds. So a in home audition is the only way to find out. And it is a practise in the west for dealers to lend equipment for in-home auditions. Sadly we don't have it in India. However, can we all hammer out some ideas how we can lend the kit we have to our fellow forum mates for in house auditions. We can even charge a 1% of the MRP of the system being lent to recover our own investment in the long run. Every one will benefit from such a arrangement in my humble opinion. Though I really don't know how to take this forward. All and any ideas are most welcome to fruition this endeavour. Thanks in advance for your time.

Home auditions concepts in India is just a dream. We do not have models for auditions even at dealers

We do not have the concept of home auditions as it is something that will be misused and not everyone cares for the equipment. Too risky for the dealer.

Pro Fx do home auditions. A handful of dealers accommodate this request too, provided you are serious about a product. Before you ask for a home audition, you must first like the product at the dealers place, else there is no point even asking for one.

What I would like dealers to do is introduce paid home auditions. Let the cost cover logistics which can't be much.

My idea was for forum members to lend their equipment to fellow forum members in the same city for auditions.

Let me be more specific. I have a home theatre setup IAM very happy with. In my small room I really don't know if I need a good sub like the svs sb2000. I can audition it at a dealer and conclude that it is better than my modest sub. But do I need that in my small room is the big question. I would be willing to pay 1% of the MRP per day to any forum member willing to lend me his sub so I can find out the difference for myself in my room. That 1% of the cost is nothing compared to what I will save if I decide that I didn't need one.

Now how do we go about doing it, and how do we ensure that our precious kit doesn't get damaged or get lost are specifics that we need to work out.

You cannot formalise leading, as it is a personal decision.you can only request the fm's in your city, which in my opinion they may not agree. At best you could visit their place for an audition to decide and decide if it suits your requirement.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
