Guys - How can Blue Ray rip (through USB) be played through Yamaha RX V371? I have Samsung 6 series LCD TV with USB port. 371 doesn't have USB port. Can TV optical output support 5.1 channel? If not, what is the best possible way to get 5.1 channel surround sound thorugh USB?

Your best bet is to get a media player or use a laptop with hdmi port to play the movie file.

Thanks

Most TVs support only Dolby Digital 5.1 through the optical out. So you may not get surround sound from TV optical as most download rips use aac audio. Get a cheaper media player.

Researched and found Amkette Flash HD (Rs. 3.5K) and Asus O play mini (Rs. 4.5K) as cheapest options. Any suggestions on the better one. Asus seems to have networking capabilities but I dont think I will use it anyways.

Most of the forum members including me have the Asus one a nice small player with all most all types of movie format support. So go for it and who knows you might get to use the networking feature if not now later on 1 yr down the line. Its feature rich but if you do not want to use this feature then go for the older model Asus O Play mini without this feature.

Thanks

What if instead of HD media player, I go for Blue Ray player with USB port? Philips Blu-ray DVD player - BDP2600/94 is available for Rs. 4200. Seems to play all HD Audio / Video formats with addition of DVD and Blue Ray Discs.

if ur samsung lcd supports connect movie share feature n.has optical out than u can get 5.1 via optical out to ur.hometheater.... to do this play movie.wid 5.1 audio n keep optical out connected to ur theater by optical cable... than go to settings(menu)... audio... spdif out.. audio format.... in this select dts or dolby digital whichever is available... pcm is 2.1 chnl... hope its cleae to u... njoy... no need to buy media player... samsung's inbuilt media player is superb....
