Hi guys,

Need help to select home theatre speaker systems for a budget of 20k.

Advice needed. Urgently... :-)

Thanks,
Audionut

Thx baiju..but I think u havent read my post correctly. I am not looking at a Htib. Only speakers.

Only satelites with sub woofer. No bookshelves.

How is wharefdale moviestar 65+? Auditioned both 65+ and 70. 70 was great. However 65+ is just abt ok. Confused between boston xs 5.1 & wharfedale 65+. Which is better?

Thx

Both are good systems but Boston Soundware XS would be the winner hands down!!! have a look:

Thanks for the reply Akash..

I have changed my mind a little bit. Am thinking if having bookshelves for front left and right will be a good option. I can add center speaker and satelites for the surround.
Thinking of auditioning wharfedale diamond 10.1 bookshelves. How is it? It seems to be good based on some reviews.
And what would be a matching center and surrounds for the same?

Thx,
Audionut

excellent choice!!! pls also demo wharfedale diamond 9 series. Even though the 10 series are new, many still prefer the 9 series coz they sound a lot better.Either one, they both are excellent speakers.

This option would be much better and superior than the 5.1 satellite speaker systems you were earlier speculating.

Have you auditioned these speakers? How did u find it?
There is 9.1 and 9.2. Also 10.1 and 10.2. Any idea what are the differences between these models? Also, I heard that wharfdale has a center and surround speaker package as well. I couldnt find it anywhere on their site or on the net. Do you have any idea about this?

Thanks,
Audionut

Re: HT speakers for 20k.Help

This change in plan is ok if you have upped your budget or you plan to get speakers step by step.
I have heard 10.2 and 9.1. For music i liked 10.2 but not 9.1 due to weak bass. This will not be an issue if you going to have separate sub.
10.2 Mrp is 22k. Dont remember the cost of 9.1. Should be less than 14k definitely. There is some nice deal in group buy section on forum.

I have 10.1 they sound very good but are better away from the wall as they are rear ported. If you want to wall mounted ones front ported 9.1 will sound better.

Check Q Acoustics 2010s ones too they are also value for money.

you can audition the following from vector systems, near brigade towers, bangalore.

1st you have to decide if you prefer a warm or bright speaker.
1) Wharfedale 9.2 - book shelf - good bass
2) wharfedale 10.2 - book shelf - good treble (voice clear)
3) Wharfedale 9.6 - FS - good bass (awesome), would recommend for music
4) wharfedale 9.5 - FS - good treble (voice clear)

alternately you can try yamaha NS series. But you should definitely think of using a floor stander for front. Initially I prefer to buy bookshelf, at the time of audition I decided to go for floor stander, in future you can add the rest of speakers.

Hi, I have not personally heard the speakers myself but many members on the forum have. And from the looks of it, many prefer the 9 series. Yes, you can get a complete 5.1 package from both the 9 and 10 series. Have a look :

Product Series - Products - Wharfedale Hi-Fi

9.5 is good for voice clarity, but less bass. Where as 9.6 is for bass. 10 series is pure bright speakers like tannoy. again its the individual choice. I like my 9.6 to 10 series.
