Hi
I have few inductor coils which i want to use in crossover. But mh value is not marked on it so how can I measure the value.

Another point:
There are variuos types of inductors liek air core, think/thin wire coil etc. So want to know which is best preferred for crossover

Thanks

You can use a LCR meter, this measures values of inductors, capacitors and resisters. It cannot be used for checking ac/dc voltages.

Air core inductors are supposed to be the best for crossovers.

Regards,

Thanks for this.

Does inductor coil diameter also make difference? I mean thick / thin wire used for coil?

Peak Electronic Design Limited - Product Categories generally good LCR meters are expensive . Peak has some entry/midrange meters.

Also for inductors design ARRL (American radio relay league) is one of the best references

Generally for speaker crossover 16/14 ga is the recommended wire thickness. There are some who argue that 12 ga is better, but there is a trade off between cost/size/weight. Check the web for more info, North Creek ( who used to wind 12 ga) used to have info not sure if their site is still up.
