Is DishTV HD 5.1 now?

It seems DishTV HD has gone surround from today. Unfortunately my DishTV HD connection is still suspended, so can't confirm it.

Could someone confirm it please?

Just got a mail from DishTV that it's 5.1 now.. need to check.. Will recharge it today and will let u know..

I won't be surprised if they claim it to be available for all channels including SD channels. No kidding, if they broadcast 5 channel audio in Dolby Digital format with sound in only two channels + crossed over low frequencies in LFE, they can really claim it to be surround just like they call upscaled SD channels HD :clapping:

That would actually be better than the Pseudo 5.1 given by TS on 2 HD channels and some of the Star HD programmings

Talking of 5.1 on Dish HD, I had spoken with the Service Manager 2 days back when I finally returned my connection for a refund with some compensation. He suggested that despite me getting the mailer, they have not yet started it as they still don't know how to do it! Till now no news of it starting.

So its yet another WORTHLESS Ad by Dish TV without any substance.

Haha, thanks dude. But as soon as I got my TS+HD, I started missing Dish TV for their better sound quality and video on SD channels I watched more. I felt like I felt like I was watching Dish TV like it was several years back.

So, we really can't fight bureaucracy and unethical practice UNLESS we see something or someone NOT doing it! Its more of a comparative term than subjective which makes me feel sad and disturbed. So eventually both TS and Dish have their good and bad and I chose TS solely as they match more to my preference than Dish TV Primary being those Asli HD channels I can't live without :yahoo:

I have also felt that DishTV PQ is a lot improved in the last six months or so. I have subscribed to the Annual Titanium Pack (Rs. 4490) that ends in Nov., 2011. I do not have an HD-TV as yet but planning it in Diwali. So I will decide at that time.

Most likely, I will opt for TataSky. But I have no complaints against DishTV as far as SD is concerned. I have no complaints against them for service either.

Actually SD channels are better on Dish HD primarily because the STB upscale them much better than TS+HD (TS+HD blurs and deblock it to look it cleaner but washed out, also TS+HD has bad deinterlacing when its near perfect on Dish HD STB).

I must say, the SD channel PQ on DishTruHD is amazing. I had a few friends over at my place, and they were amazed to see the PQ of SD channels on my 50" plasma.

Dish has enabled 5.1 only on MOVIES NOW, all other HD channels still remain stereo.
