My Parents are in the US and will be coming down to India early next month
Is it a good idea to ask them to get Onkyo TX-SR608 Receiver from there. Its around $400 odd there Rs 20,000

Would I face a problem with the converting from 110 to 220 ?

or does it make sense to buy it in India, Any idea what the approx cost of it is here in India

You can buy more recent models around that price. Why settle for 608 ?

Yes as long as you can save substantial amount of money , it is good.

To get a fairly good idea on ASVR prices, there is a price list in this forumn, and it would cost you approx Rs 2500 for a step down transformer from 220 to 110V, and also be aware that US bought AVR might hv no guarantee support here.
I would also hang my neck out and advise you to not just buy a AVR in isolation, but instead based on yr budget, yr listening / watching movies requirement and the room size, decide yr complete package and then start investing .
Any more queries pl feel free to mention , cheers

I thought of putting this and got bored of seeing every other guy asking this occasionally. Everybody like only "Fast Food"(fast reply) and nobody interested in traditionally tasteful food( search post by others and reply).
