Is ups not good for av receivers?
according to teclok, as told by lokesh of the home theater store.
YouTube - Care for Audio Video equipments
you can check it in this web site?

well i used ups for my old onkyo hts, it worked fine (my ups is of 750VA/12v)
but my new onkyo tx sr608 dose not come to stand by when main power goes.
dose i want to increase the capacity of the ups are what?

i don't want to take risk and connect it directly to the mains because of power problems and connecting it to a stabilizer is also problem because we have to change the connections every time the power goes.
any advise will be helpful for me and others facing the same problems.

thanks in advance

The output from a normal UPS is square wave where as the mains supply is Sine wave. So devices with motors are not recommended to run on such ups. But devices with SMPS power supply like pc, dvd player etc can be connected safely. If you need added protection go for an online ups. These usually have sine wave output.

what do you mean by your AVR doesnt come to stand by?. Do you want your AVR to automaticaly go to stand by when main power goes?

Is your AVR switching off when main power goes? Does your inverter beeps when mains go out while your amp is powered on. This means your AMPS power exceeds your UPS's max watts back up power. Then you need to change the capacity of your UPS.

And Whats your UPS current phase?. Check whether its a square wave or sine wave. A Sine wave phase is always better . I use a 850 VA sinewave-UPS and my AMP works fine , it works for more than a hour (AMP + my TV+ my DVD player) without the main current.

On the same lines, if I use a invertor with a Big truck like battery, will that be ok to sustain my AVR's load? I have a Denon 1911 and a Plasma TV 42"

The TV is around 350 Watts
And the AVR is around 450 Watts

42" tv 650w, highly unlikely. even my 50" with a spec of 350w consumes only half of it
