I have 5.1 speakers of a home theatre by LG (LHS - T6540). Due to some reason i had to give away the DVD player.
Now i want to utilize the 5.1 channel speakers by introducing an amplifier or some other equipment.
Speaker specs:
5 surround speakers with 8 Ohms and 120 w.
Sub Woofer with 4 Ohm 240 W.

Could you please let me know what options i have to setup these speakers at economical cost.
Let me know if i should even think of setting these up or buy a completely new home theatre solution.

Sorry, i'm very new to the A/V terminologies and devices. Any help is appreciated.

Buying a new htib makes more sense. But then what is your budget? Surround receivers with latest codecs and frills can be had for 35k and up.

Powering speakers should not be a problem as long as they are 6-8 ohms, however, if that sub is Passive, i.e., without an amp, then it will be difficult to find a modern receivers supporting a passive sub. Try to look for an Onkyo htib receiver, I remember reading about some coming with passive subs.

Thanks MaSh & tuff for your inputs.

Well i dont want to spend setting up a home theatre again.
But if at all it was possible to fix these speakers for about 10k i could consider using them again.

Else i will have to sell them off. I'm not sure who could buy it and what could i be expecting from it.
