looking for a receiver with SQ and Features to power dynaudios

4lacs or 8k $ should get one the top of the line pre-pros....Out of curiosity what receiver is 4 lacs Rishi?

There is a good one at profx costing 3.8 lakhs approx. Denon AVC-A1HDA

Profx - Advanced Audio Solutions

The Yamaha DSP-Z11 if available in India will cost you 4 lakhs.

Expect jaw dropping sound quality from these "Uber" AV amplifiers. Immensely powerful. I have recently acquired one of these, and I can say first hand this things are something special.

Here is my thread : help-me-choose-between-these-mega-monsters.html

Hope this helps.

The NAD is doing a pretty decent job. However I feel the fronts could wake up further with more drive and I am going to put a power amp behind it. I would ultimately prefer a warmer sound as the NAD seems to loose control of the highs coming from the front after -15 db or so on the volume knob.

The options I've been informed of are :

1. Lexicon 412. Supposedly the same AMP as a Bryston 8bst. This can be bridged to deliver a whopping 400 watts to the front channels. I've heard its better to overdrive the speaker than underdrive it. Will this land up unbalancing the HT performance as the fronts will be getting twice the power of anything else

2. NAD 208 Power amp 208THX Stereo Power Amplifier - NAD Electronics

3. Odyssey Stratos plus stereo with Odyssey Candela pre amp. This combo has a lower power rating but using the Candela pre would most likely give me the warmer sound I'm looking for. Also the Candela has HT bypass so that the whole combo would fit in with the NAD in place.

All will cost close to 1 lac. Which would you recommend for the best sound. Speakers to be driven are the Dynaudio Audience 82.

Thanks

Audience 82 was a floorstander from the earlier dynaudio's entry-level series now discontiued & is not so difficult to drive provided you have the requisites well addressed : i.e. The need for at least solid 100 watt on tap amplifier that does NOT fret an inch of sweat into low impedances and stable to 2 ohms. meaning healthy, overdone PSU with conservative RMS power rating.

Odyssey power amps are definitely recommended but I wouldn't get their preamp. IMO their pre is nowhere near their pwr. (and this is something we see quite a bit around with most amplifier manufacturers).

I'm not finding anything by parasound under 1 lax. All of the three listed above are under one lac. Which of the three mentioned above would most likely be the best sounding?

Thanks

The Parasound A23 is under a lakh. 125w per channel. Did a good job with the Audience 52s. May be worth trying out with the 82

I have not heard the Nad or Lexicon that you listed. The Stratos is a good amp but I dont know how it works with Dynaudios.

one of my frnd uses a NAD S300 Integrated amp with his Contour S3.4.

the NAD grips the speaker like a VICE. These silverline NADs of the yester-years were very different animals, never to be made again - designed exclusive in Denmark & a work of Peter Lyngdorf who was involved with names as Dali, Gryphon, Snell, TacT and now, Steinway-Lyngdorf.

If you can find a S300, it will work wonders for your A-82 in a simple 1-box solution.

hi,

been looking at the replies of respected FM's..

was wondering if a simple 30W Class A can do the trick ? with a pre like the NAD C162

Not advocating anyone or anybrand.. but if this tickles your fancy.. the Class A can be had for about 45k ( made in India ) and the pre would cost about that much too from dealer or audiogon etc..

will be looking at this thread for responses.

Rise - what made you choose an AVR ( be it from NAD ) for these dynaudios when you know if was going to be stereo music all the way ?

regards,
mpw

Will adding a candela to the setup further improve sound? I'm wondering if I should get both or just the power amp and drive it with the NAD? Also do you think the Stratos will sound better even though wattage is lower?

MPV I have the dynaudios in a 5.1 setup with 50/50 movies music usage so therefore thought to start with the receiver and go from there. Next will add a power amp and maybe a pre like the candela as well.

I looked further into parasound and found a 2250 from the classic line that fits the budget and power requirements. Has anyone heard this running dynaudio speakers and what is your opinion on this amp. How does it compare in sound signature and current delivery to the Odyssey Stratos?

Thanks

The 2250 is not particularly refined when paired with Dynaudios. The Stratos is a better amp in my opinion.

Within Parasound, the Halo line is much better than the Classic.

I do listen to a lot of electronic music and feel that the NAD begins to distort at the volumes I desire. Therefore was leaning toward a 250 watt per channel Parasound over the 150 watt Odyssey. Will there be a considerable volume difference? Seems like current and other specs are similar between odyssey and parasound 2250. However this gives no idea about SQ I guess. Any other opinions or reviews about pairing these two with Dynaudio? Thanks
