Looking for Audio amp + speakers

Hello,

OBJECTIVE: I am looking for sound equipment that should take output from my computer sound card

1. Audio preference (Music / Movies) = 70% Music/30% Movies
2. Budget = Rs. 30000

3. Room Size (Lenght x Breadth x Height) = 12 feet x 12 feet x 10 feet

4. Source (CD /DVD /Satellite /Other) = Other, Computer with upto 7.1 sound output

5. Existing components to be integrated with new purchase (Speaker /Amp /Cables /Equaliser /Other) = nothing

6. Can used AVR be considered (Y/N) = no

7. Other details /preferences
I want to buy a system which I can grow over time. I would like to buy an amp now + two speakers and maybe a subwoofer. I would like to add the rest of the components over in due course.


8. Other query-1 = ?
Is it possible to buy a receiver like Onkyo TX-SR307 and use it with only two speakers (stereo mode), rather than 5.1
ONKYO SIGHT & SOUND INDIA
9. Other query-2 =?
If this is possible, Which system (amp + 2/2.1 speakers) would you recommend considering my current budget (rs 30k)

I am from Hyderabad so shop references would also help

I have HDMI out (it says for upto 5.1 audio) and analog 7.1 out

All the low end receivers don't seem to have hdmi audio processing, but rather just pass through... e.g. Yamaha RXV 365, 463 and the Onkyo HTR-340. Is this accurate?

Also what are the pros/cons of passing audio using analog to a receiver...
