Marantz SR5004 with Mission MV Package

Hi Guys,

I'm new to HiFi Vision & wud appreciate any kind of expertise that you all possess in this field.

The dealer in Bangalore is offering the below package for 76,000 INR.
RECEIVER: Marantz SR5004
SPEAKERS: MISSION
Fronts: MV8
Centre: MVC
Surrounds: MVDS
Subwoofer: MS8

Queries:
1. Is this deal worth 76K?
2. Can anybody advise if there are any other deals that i can go for within a budget of 75K?

Any suggestions to get a good set-up in 75K will help.

Which other systems did you listen to?
Mv8 package is ok for the price, I am not too sure about that sub though.
 
hey iaudio,

i've only listened to Denon 1910 with POLK TSi300...

Never had the chance to audition the Marantz with Mission as i live in Mumbai & currently out of the country. So all i do is take advise from you guys and get it without the audition.
 
for 75K budget, you can try out Q acoustic 5.1 pkg (~45K) with a decent AVR (like Denon 1610 at ~25K). Try auditioning this combo.

But as is said earlier, i have no chance of auditioning. So i've to rely on your verdicts. I need floor standing instead of bookshelves. i can raise my budget a bit up. The dealer has given the break-up as follows:
Marantz SR5004: 42K
Mission MV Package: 34K

The dealer also suggested Denon 1610 + Mission MV package for 63K & Marantz SR5004 + Crystal Audio 5.1 for 156K.

I've read reviews of the Marantz SR5004 & they are good with music. i'm going to use this set-up for 50:50 Music/Movies.

Please guide me with your expertise.
 
Stal, if I am guessing correctly, this is a grey market dealer. You would not get any bill or warranty. Though for speakers, it is a fairly safe way to go, I have my doubts about going for an AVR which is more prone to malfunction. Please keep this in mind when you strike the deal.

If you are okay with grey goods, why not explore in mumbai itself? The mumbaikars in the forum may be able to guide you to a good dealer...

another point - at the budget level, there is not a vast difference in grey and white prices. Why not spend a couple of Ks extra and buy from an authorized dealer?

Are you planning to buy without audition? I have heard the Mission MV8. They are kinda good, but nothing great. Also you should look at options like QA 1000 cinema package and Cambridge Audio Sirocco 5.1 in the same budget.

I really wished i cud audition some speakers, but it's really not possible.

could you suggest me a 5.1 speaker package (fronts to be floor standing) in the budget of 40K that wud compliment the marantz Sr5004 receiver.
 
At that budget, the Mission Mv8 and CA Sirocco 5.1 seem to be the available options with front floorstanders. Ask price for CA Sirocco 5.1.
 
What if i cut down the subwoofer n surrounds.

Can i get good floorstanding fronts & centre within 45K... if so can u suggest some brands
 
Accoustic Energy aegis neo 3, Jamo c405, Q Acoustics 2050, Psb Alpha T1 are some you can get in that budget. You can get matching centres for them too.
This approach will mean that you will get speakers that you can live with for a longer time, though you will have to wait longer or spend more to get a complete surround package.
