Hi folks,

I'm new to the forum. I'm looking to purchase a Media Player with these facilities.

I would be highly obliged if gurus can help me choose one.

Cheers

SM

Hi Sathiamoorthy ji good that you've created a thread yourself. This forum is a friendly and warm place and you'll surely get some good suggestions here. May not be an exact match to your requirement but this thread talks of portable media players and I find FM Linusxguru's post very interesting.

The thread: http://www.hifivision.com/portable-audio-players-accessories/57737-sansa-clip-xduoo-x2-fiio-x1.html

Linuxguru's post: http://www.hifivision.com/portable-...sansa-clip-xduoo-x2-fiio-x1-2.html#post659395

Also check the sub forum http://www.hifivision.com/media-streaming-players/

and http://www.hifivision.com/portable-audio-players-accessories/

The latter is portable player though which has both advantages and disadvantages. Choose the one that suits you.

I have a media PC on sale in the forum http://www.hifivision.com/sale-owner/59238-foxconn-intel-atom-barebones-pc-4gb-ram.html#post661572. I was using this fanless PC for only music streaming from my NAS server connected over USB to external DAC. It has in-built wifi and you can get any tiny usb bluetooth adapter for this requirement. It comes pre-built with all the required hardware except a hard disk. You can either get a new HDD preferably a SDD for going with Windows OS installation or just a pendrive if going with like Linux/Daphile based OS as you are going to use this exclusively for music only purpose. PM me if you are interested.

Thank you Capt sir. Yes, people seem to be very helpful.

The player referred in Linuxguru's thread is a portable player. I'm looking at a powered box.

Thank you Manniraj ji but I'm not keen on PC for music. I have a laptop too which I can use but I don't want to boot up a device and use keyboard, mouse and display.

I wish to find something which has onboard display and songs can be selected by remote.

Yes I agree that this does not have an onboard display but you can install any software player like foobar/jriver etc and use an app over the mobile/tab and control it without the need to have a display. Good luck on your search and I hope you get it as per your requirements/priorities.

Has anyone dealt with any of them? How is their service support?

Re: Media Player with HDD/SSD, USB, HDMI & Bluetooth

@sathiamoorthy, the distributors will not be involved with you directly. Western digital has a dedicated office and support in Blore.
You will be interacting with them, so there is no need for you to be worried about the distributor.
And as far as bluetooth, what i have done is attach a logitech bluetooth speaker adapter to connected to my altec lansing Mx5021.

Pic of the logitech but adapter. I use my mobile phone bluetooth to play music to my mx5021 thru this adapter. And my music source is from phone and Wd nas , where i have stored music and videos.

Someone suggested Raspberry pi. Will it suit my requirement? Moreover, I have browsed for the same and got only links of circuit boards. Where do we get the boxes? Do we have to make it or something available readymade?

I'm using pi2 with Kodi on it. It don't have WiFi and Bluetooth. WiFi can be enabled by wireless usb adapter.
Along with pi you have to purchase
1) 5v 2A power adaptor
2) micro sd card

Case (box) you can make yourself if you enjoy diy
or you can purchase eBay

Please go through the following thread:
