Metallica - A Total Disappointment in Delhi/Gurgaon

@Malvai I do get the crowd mentality but all I am pissed off about is the band's equipment being thrashed.. The guys should have thrashed the organisers and any property that belonged to them.. Now the poor sounds guy must be taking count of all the damaged equipments..

And yes even I HATE DNA for one thing , that they brought Backstreet Boys to India under the Rock in India Banner.. Sadly no matter what there is no other event manager who's been bringing in these acts, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, Roger Waters, Machine Head, now Metallica.. all brought to India by DNA.. A few exceptions would be Lamb of God, textures, Amon amarth etc..

So until someone comes out with a company that handles the international acts we will have to live with this strand of DNA.. Sadly that's the fact

dude, the media reports that the equipment was trashed... and that the barricade which took them 3 days to build was broken even before the announcement was made...

now i can tell you this, as a 1st hand experience:
1. the equipment was taken off stage before the announcement...
2. the only vandalism that happened was a couple of 20Litre bisleri (empty ones) being thrown on stage
3. sevral 1ltr bisleri bottles were thrown
4. a few people made it on stage and were promptly pushed back
5. a couple of mike stands were damaged

now coming to the barricade/barrier: tell me this how can a barricade that was built over 3 days be pulled down in minutes (something stinks here)

there is a lot of exaggeration going on...

a few people did get injured while going out, that too is because there was one one solitary exit for 25,000 people... an exit that was barely the size of a regular french window...

dont believe everything that appears in print... is all i will say.

GURGAON: Four people, including a top official of the company organising the Metallica concert, were arrested early Saturday on charges of cheating and breach of trust, as the event was postponed at the last moment, police said.

DNA Networks, the event management company organising the concert, had Friday postponed the event for Saturday.

Rajesh, the general manager of DNA Networks, was arrested along with team members Umesh, Ashok Singh and Savio Faleio, Gurgaon's Sector 29 Station House Officer Jagdish Prasad said.

They were arrested under section 406 (breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code, Prasad said.

Over 25,000 people had gathered at the Leisure Valley Park here in Sector 29 to watch the concert, the opener for the 'F1 Rocks' series of performances for the Formula 1 event.

The four member-band, which arrived here Friday and addressed the media, are known for albums like the 1986 release "Master of Puppets" and the 1991 album "Metallica", which reportedly sold over 15 million copies in the US and 22 million copies worldwide. Their last release was "Death Magnetic" in 2008.

"As soon as the organisers announced that the show has been postponed, the crowd went berserk... people started pushing each other, broke barricades, started shouting and throwing water bottles," Pankaj Kaushik, who waited for three hours for the show to begin, said.

The venue was vandalised by upset fans, some of whom even ran around the ground shirt-less as a mark of rebellion. They threw bottles at the security personnel, who formed a human chain on the stage.

Technical equipment was destroyed as angry fans threw chairs at the LED wall.

"People have come from across various countries - Malaysia, China, Nepal, Indonesia, Singapore... but everybody is feeling robbed," said Anurag Sharma, another disappointed fan.

Metallica was due to stage its first ever performance in India. Metallica is slated to perform in Bangalore on Sunday.

We get what we deserve. We includes me, you (members of HFV), the organizers of this show, audience, govt. public safety enforcement departments,..........

We'll never know all the details to be able to correctly place a blame. It's a bad dream for fans.

wow what a disgrace..alcoholics?..looks like they are mostly from DU and JNU by the way they are behaving...pure hooliganism..anyhow..jo hogaya so hogaya.. but those vandals, huns, visigoths etc should actually thank their stars because electrocution was a high probability costing theirs and several other lives there...dumba$$ idiots.

Metallica Delhi 2011 concert postponed for a day - furious crowd destroy stage and equipment - YouTube

Malvai, the video clearly shows dudes slamming stage monitors, drum raisers, drum monitors, hetfield's signature microphones n stuff.. I won't believe what the media says, but just please take a look at this video.. this is vandalism..

dude, notice that the stage was EMPTY barring the few items (that were slammed) clearly visible...

throughout the entire afternoon all we saw was a mixer and a drumkit on stage and the monitors and the mics that got slammed... before announcing that the show is cancelled, the mixers and the drum kit Vanished...

however, if you believe the media reports, they clain equipment over Rs1cr was trashed...

I do agree that the vandalism was in very bad spirit, but can u imagine why these guys did what they did?

imagine, you are standing at the venue since 2.30. to get a good sweet spot... then at 6.30 an a$$#0le of a guy comes up and says that the show is cancelled and will happen the next day... on hearing a collective booo from the crowd the same MF goes on to threaten the crowd saying - if you do this then we will ensure that the show does not happen even tomorrow!

This last bit really got to the crowd!

i mean, one can apologise and take a couple of booos but the threat was a bit too much... it goes against all norms of hospitality. especially since the organisers were in the wrong to begin with... i am sure the same would happen anywhere in the world... and not just delhi.

Metallica, DNA & all the other clowns got a taste of their own medicine

Yes, I blame Metallica too, the least they could have done is come out on stage & explain why they were not going to get the show going, had they done that I'm sure the crowd would not have done what they did (justifiably)

@Rajudhs, IMHO few jerks do not represent an entire crowd though we understand where you are going.:)

I suggest you edit the relevant words lest you start a new fighting thread on geographical lines.
