Im thinking to buy this MK808B ANDROID DUAL CORE MINI TV BOX. So that i can install XBMC and connect it to my receiver and play.

My max budget is 5k.

If you could wait for some time, next week a number of Chinese companies including Measy, Minix are launching their latest android 4.4 box with Amlogic chip 802 (2gb ram/8 GB storage) at China Sourcing Fair in HK. These media players can smoothly play XBMC and other apps.

I am also planning to buy one.

I have a dual core rockchip 3066 based ugoos 007 which works fine and plays upto 720p videos comfortably using xbmc. Looks like mk808b is based on same chipset. If you are game, you can install finless ROMs which gives better performance with xbmc and a true 1080p display support. The newer roms also have fixed libstagefright which is important for video hardware acceleration. You can get more info here.

Amazon has just launched Fire TV in the US market for $99 with a fast processor (better than Amlogic S802). It will put pressure on the prices of Chinese products so one can hope to get a very good media player within a price range of $80-100 in the next couple of months.

That's a nice website to check and download custom ROMs for these models. But i think we can't register in that forum from india.?

I haven't tried registering with them so don't have any idea as I haven't faced any problems yet. You can still download the roms without registering with them.

I own this android TV stick and there is an extensive review of this gadget by owners in this forum. See this link
Have bought a couple of nifty gadgets to attach to the Android stick to convert it to a wired LAN- connected net. All details in the same thread.
