In the film Pushpaka vimana, Kamal Haasan playing a tramp who takes a rich man's identity after abducting him and imprisons him in his noisy shabby lodge finds the quiet comfy hotel room of the rich guy disorderly. A genius audiophile inside him finds the solution - he records the noise around his former place of residence and plays it to get some sleep finally! Not a bad audiophille level hack! ;)

Nice observation, the entire film communicates with the music and sound. Without the barrier of language and age, every one can enjoy every second of the movie.

Kamal hassan gives importance to sound a lot. Some of his films were mixed by oscar winning team including whiplash.
Kuruthipunal was the first of its kind implementation of surround sound dolby back in mid 90s for which it even went to oscar selection (not nomination though). Ofcourse it was also live sound recording experimentation to add to the zeitgeist it gives in retrospect to mid 90s era.

On a side note now after KGF and Kantara, Kannada films are getting a good pan India and international appeal but this silent movie under Kannada film industry umbrella was a cult classical masterpiece of the neo Chaplin Buster Keaton era which also features a superstar in its casting, this ought to be cherished by the Kannada film industry as a rare gem. Even Mani Rathnam's 'Pallavi Anu Pallavi' featuring another superstar Anil Kapoor has to be held as its relic having all ingrediants for a retrospective treasure to add beauty to this industry's archieves and library collection. (Disclaimer, i am not a shill or a Kannadika to talk propoganda, just felt so to highlight something i felt.)
