Hi! I made this HT setup about 1.5 yrs back but have been occupied with something or other and unable to post here.
My set up includes Marantz SR 5007 AVR, Q acoustics 2000i series speakers, Epson TW 6000 3D LED PJ, Zotac HTPC, Sony blue ray player, WD Live, Tata sky PVR, Local motorised screen and Apple airport express for streaming movies from net.
The stereo setup includes Cambridge Audio ONE with Modhurnt short bookshelf speakers.
I have used acoustic foams from Bajaoo.com for acoustic treatment of the room. The walls have plywood boards and wall carpet fixed on them. I have not used any glass wool in between plywood and concrete wall.
Hope you guys will like it. Your views and comments will be much appreciated.
I have old AVRs (Denon and Yamaha), speakers (Jamo) in the same room. They are for sale. I will be putting them in the forum soon.

Thanks for sharing your setup.

Nice to see that someone has taken acoustic seriously. I really appreciate that. Is there any air gap between the concrete wall and the plywood?
What about bass? Is it controlled? I am asking this because there is nothing for bass treatment in the pics.

I can see two subs there and one center channel on the left side on the top of a sub. What is the reason for such strange setup?

Overall, looking a cozy place for boys to spend time. Congratulations!

Thanks. I have not put anything between concrete wall and plywood. I wanted to put glass wool but i read somewhere in this forum that glass wool is not good for health as it tends to become brittle and powdery later which can come out from plywood joints.
i have put bass traps at the corners which are good enough to take care of bass.
The 2nd sub is from old system which I am not using. I will put it on sale.
Thanks once again..:)

Thanks for your reply, although, I was not talking about glasswool. That's your anticipated answer :) I just asked whether there is any air gap between concrete wall and the plywood or it is fixed on the wall?

At the corner that is not bass traps. Those are too thin to work as bass traps. As you said, there is no bass overhang problem, then don't worry about it. Enjoy your AV :)

Dear Capt. Really Nice setup. Congratulations.

Can you share more details on how you decided on the acoustic treatments besides the wall carpet? The location of those boards and the type of boards used. It will be useful to share the process of doing and deciding the same to people like me who need to get into it soon.

There is nothing between plywood board and concrete wall, only gap of about 3 inches for supporting wooden beams.
Well the corners triangular pieces on top are bass traps, at least that's what is mentioned in Bajaao.com. They look small in photo but they are quite big, at least 24 inches thick. please check here

Thanks. As i have mentioned, i used plywood boards all around the wall which are supported by wooden beams, 3 inch thick. Nothing is put in between wall and ply boards. I sourced acoustic foams from bajaao.com and asked carpenter to stick them on boards so that I could move them as necessary. For finding locations of sound signals hitting the various points in the room, I carried out simple mirror test which I learned from the forum. You stand where your speakers are placed and make somebody move around the room with mirror facing towards you. wherever you see your reflection in the mirror, those are the points sound signal may hit and needs to be treated. Be careful not to overdo the treatment otherwise the room will become dead. I also carried out audessy for fine tuning and tweaking the AVR.

Nice. That 3" gap is actually working as membrane bass trap and those are quite effective.

24" X 12" are length & width of the trap. The thickness is around 2-4" as I can see from the pic. As I said, if it is working that's what matters. May be you room mode is quite low and hence it is sounding nice. A larger room has lower room mode.

I thought the right way was to sit in your standard listening position and have someone move the mirror across the sidewalls. The moment you can see the speaker (tweeter/driver), thats where you put in the boards.

Yeah Koushik, my room is not very big. It's only 12 X 12 ft. I am thinking of putting up DIY screen behind pull down screen. That will give 1.5 ft of extra distance to pj and I am I will get bit larger image.

I am not sure Sud. You may be right. I can change the position of those boards anytime. That's the reason i have made them portable.I will check in the forum and let you know. Thanks anyways.

Yes, that is a great idea. Bigger (up to a point) is better for movie screen. Can't you just move the present screen back? Why use another screen. Just curious.
