Hello everyone !

I have recently purchased Norge 2060 and paired with my old Sony SS-L90VH speakers to speaker A connection and Speaker B to Sony SA-W10H. I keep both A&B speakers on.

CDP is Onida DVD

The effect is good, however i still feel that the bass is not as tight as i had expected it to be.

Also when i connect my laptop to the amp, i have noticed that the body of the laptop has a very minor current sensation. any suggestions?

Regards....

The current part is ok. Norge amps are not earthed properly. You can replace the power cord with a three pin 6 ampere cord and connect the ground wire to the amplifier chassis.

For tighter bass which goes down low you will need a dedicated sealed subwoofer.

Instead of using the cd player it would be better to invest in a value for money usb DAC and play uncompressed FLAC files from your laptop. That may also improve the sound of your system.

Hi cyclops,

Another upgrade would be to replace the stock Norge pre-amp circuit with the SSP Pre-amp (see HFV thread), without spending much $$$, it will give a major boost to your Sound Quality, since the Norge 2060 is quite a powerful amp. Later you can upgrade your source to a good CDP/DAC , and good BS speakers depending on your requirement and budget. :licklips:

Just my Rs.2/-

Thanks Audiodoc for the suggestion. Yes I did notice tingling sensation on the front fascia of amp whenever it is switched on. However it is absent on the chassis. Shall carryout suggested modification of changing the power cord.

I am thinking of going in for Fiio E10 as a DAC. Hopefully that should improve the SQ while playing through my laptop with Foobar2000 + WASPI.

Thanks Murali for your suggestion. I do plan to change the preamp of 2060 as i have read on this forum. will seek help from you and Sachin on this in near future.

I also noticed a slight clicking sound few seconds after the amp is powered on. would that be speaker protection circuit? has Norge started including it as a standard?

for the current case, you can also local earth.just attach a copper cable and run the cable to any rod going under earth.or any suitable stuff.if you dont live in frond floor it will cost you a long cable.but is very necccesary.in fact this thing reflects your earthing needs in your other equipmets.I have the same problem.I have separate local earthings for my each equipments.not very nice to look though, but safe for human and equipment.
grounding very important.

You may open the hood of you norge and post some pictures. That will help us guide you with better suggestions. If your house has a proper earth connection there is no need for a separate connection. A cheap way of earthing your house is to connect the earth wire to a metallic tap which goes underground.

Hi Prosenjit,

Hello Prosenjit,
I just attached one wire and put it in the earthing socket.... the tingling vanished !!!

this also proved that the earthing circuit is working at my home :)

thanks for the suggestion !

So Norge had accepted my suggestion of including a speaker protection circuit ( top left with the blue coloured relay ). I has to install my own in my Norge. Check my Norge 1000 upgrades and sachems SSP.

Indeed doc !! i had been suspecting that it is there (due to the clicking sound) and you have confirmed the same. was actually planning to add this feature based on the various discussions on this forum.

so now i need to prepare to change the preamp.. that will take a while though..

Still would like to know why would the chassis have a leakage current? where would it be originating from? what can i do to eliminate it completely?

You don't need to worry about the leakage current. Even my 80k dell laptop has some on its metallic body.

Many appliances with 2 point plugs have a minor current leak. My parents Samsung CRT has the same problem. I saw a friend's LG CRT with the same when I got a tingling sensation when I connected the camcorder and touched a metallic screw.

At my parents, the Norge 2060 is paired to old Sony speakers and connected to the TS STB. Since I know the TV leaks current, i didn't bother to check if the 2060 also leaks current.

The soundscape is quite good. They are not into bass so the bass knob of 2060 is below average. At full treble, every tiny noise in the movie or serial can be heard to the point that mom said it is a bit too much for the ears, so we had to turn it down ;)

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
