i have recently came across OPTOMA H180X on amazon .com for 449$ ,
3000 lumens, 17000:1 contrast ratio, Wxga, Full 3D,
how is the projector and how is the deal?
please reply fast....

ive had a bad experience with optoma .. had to get it repaired thrice .. now have stopped trying to get it repaired as i end up spending 10k / repair.

Dunno what the other fMs have to say about optoma .. better bet would be epson . why dont you check the thread on the same.

i did some research on net, according to which, optoma h180x is a newer version of good old Hd66 but with improved lumens and Full 3D support.
many people had experienced DMD chip failure (e.g. white/dead pixels on screen after few hrs of use) on Hd66. Thats the only problem stopping me from ordering H180x.
Any expert comments?

how the service network of optoma in india? for part availability and lamp replacement or any other problem resolution. this is electronics item, cant say about reliability of the product.

Well, guess sometimes it can happen with a product or a few models. i am very happy with Optoma. My HD20 has been running for over 3 years now doing duty and no issues whatsoever. I am very happy with the same.

If there is a known issue with this model, then it can be prone to failures. That is where i would always dig deep do research and buy a PJ that is tried and tested.

So always google, look up reviews and read feedback on other forums before you order.

i have optoma HD66 with 3d Kit and has very excellent performance.

Recently bought Optoma H180x

After one week of using

Good things :
1. Picture quality : Excellent picture quality. A true 3000 Lumens. Can watch movies with tube light on.
2. 3D : Yes, It can play 3D movies from USB, via media player. Good lumens and high contrast ratio makes 3D movies crisp and enjoyable. Enjoyed watching 'Gravity' and 'Transformers'. Very much happy with 3D performance.
3. Low noise : Happy with noise levels. My previous projector, Epson used to make double the noise.

Bad things
1. Can't find compatable projector mount in India. If anyone knows, pls reply.
2. Only one HDMI port.
