Hello everyone,
This is my first post here and I have gone through a lot of threads but have come across none specific to my request.

I would like recommendations of any good 2.1 speaker set for use with my PC.
Budget: Rs.5000/- around that mark
Usage will be music, games and youtube on equal terms.

I reside in Bangalore and any info about the shops I can get them from is appreciated.

Thanks. :)

Well, the reason you've not come across anything that meets your specs on this forum is that it is somewhat difficult to find a good set of 2.0/2.1 speakers under 5k. If you can stretch your budget a bit, say to 6-9k, there would be a lot of speakers that have proved their mettle in the multimedia territory. (Klipsch promedia 2.1, Audioengine a2, logitech z623, MAV 40, few models of altec lansing, couple of models of Swan etc.). You'll be able to find a lot of information about all of these, but they are all in the $100-$200 bracket. If you can find a used set, that might just about fit nicely in your budget.

I still love my Artis s6600r. Its a 5.1 system. And can work in 2.1 configuration. In fact i have almost always used it in that way. It was for 6.5k 5 years back. So look for Artis products. I like them. You are not open to stereo? Sony has all in one stereo products (not the boomboxes) with detachable speakers. Put your comp out into auxil in of it. Great for music. Dont know how it will perform for games.

Thank you for your valuable inputs. I will look into the ones suggested today.
I cannot stretch my budget any further.

I got a quote of Rs.6500/- for the Edifier C3. How is the price?

I am in love with the Swan M10. Haven't heard them but they look good and have nice reviews.
Again if anyone knows where I can find them in Bangalore, I will be grateful.

Thanks.

@rajudhs- Did you also get your set online or someplace in bangalore. I am currently in search of shops where I can find them. Can you suggest a few shops you might know of in B'lr?

I just got a response from Pro med stating that the Swan M10 are out of stock. None of the other details were given. They said they have the M12 but gave no pricing details.

I wrote another email and am awaiting a response about the restocking of the M10.
BTW how are the Swan M12 in comparison with the M10?

Hi,

Check out this product .. THX certified .. Excellent sounding speakers.

Altec Lansing MX-5021 Speaker System:
Altec Lansing MX-5021 Speaker System

When this product was launched in India about 3 years back, it was costing Rs.13,500/-. When I purchased this unit last year it was Rs.7,500/-. Chances are there it may cost a little less now. The challenge is that you have to hunt for this one on S P Road in Bangalore. It is an outdated model but believe me this can outperform many 2.1 speakers in terms of sound quality, build quality & fit&finish quality.

Try whether you can get the contact number of Rashi Peripherals, Bangalore. They were the distributors of Altec Lansing products in India. Good Luck :)
