Hi guys,

I am planning to go for a 110" Grandview screen to go along with my EPSON TW8100, just not sure whether it should be motorized or fixed frame. The screen will cover a window and I might need some daylight in the room from time to time. That's why I am leaning a bit towards the motorized screen but my only worry is - will the screen be rigid enough to not show any ripples?

Also what should be the approximate cost for a 110" Grandview screen and also a good dealer in Mumbai for the same?

Thanks

If the room is dedicated for entertainment then a fixed screen will be good idea otherwise motorized is much better.

If there is no daylight in the room then it should not be much of a problem as such natural light can be obtained in other rooms or even when we are on the move.

The ripples should not be a problem if handled well and as long as it is branded like Grandview.

On the other hand screen will shake some what if it is not around 6 feet away from ceiling fan.

Dedicated Home Theater Room- You have a couple of options
1) Fixed Frame
2) Curved Fixed Frame

Multipurpose room- You have several Options
1) Manual Pull Down Screen
2) Motorized Screen
3) Tab Tensioned Motorized Screen

I have a manual pull down grand view 120" screen. There is a slight ripple problem. On closer analyses I found that installer didn't put it absolutely straight. So quality of installer is very important. If you can go in for fixed, nothing like it.

Thanks for the input guys, I think I will go along with the fixed frame screen. But I am confused as to the pricing of the GrandView screens. I have seen some guys getting a quote of around 12k for a 120" screen whereas the guy at AV Vision is quoting me a price of around 39k for a fixed frame GrandView screen. Could you guys confirm as to the actual price of a GrandView screen and from where I can get the best deal in Mumbai.

The following price list may be helpful. Also see if you can just paint the wall with cream white which saves many bucks.

I have a liberty grandview..I think grandview is a canadian company that gets their stuff manufactured in China..Liberty is an Indian company that has a JV with them...some such story..anyways there guys are based out of Hyderabad and have dealers in Bangalore. I got my 120 incher for around 14K last year. Its a manual pulldown and havent seen any ripples so far. But again I used my projector once in a month or once in two months.

I like the manual pull down coz fixed screen would mean lots of risk in terms of stuff falling on the screen..I have two young sons and cannot risk having a permanent screen:lol:
