Hi friends,

I have to do some paneling behind the speakers wall. So what the carpenter did, he made a border of ply first, then he put plywood sheet on top of it.

So , sequence wise from out, we will have paint on it. Then there is ply, then there is hollow gap (due to framing), then there is again old wall with paint.

Can this cause negative impact on the sound?

1. What this the distance between your speaker and the plywood frame?
2. Are you speakers rear ported.

It all depends on the distance. If you have a more than a foot separating the speaker and the ply, I think that should be ok. Also if your speaker is front ported then the effect the ply has should be even less. This is what I think. Other forum members having more experience will surely chip in.
