Polk PSW110 Subwoofer

Hi All.. I have a pair of Polk Tsi200 connected to a Sonodyne Sia310 amplifier. I have bee using this set up for quite some time and the sound is quite good (Especially when you are stepping up from a pair of Creative speakers!).

Yesterday, I added a Polk PSW110 subwoofer to the setup. There are two outputs labeled "Pre Out" in the amplifier. I ran a RCA cable from the amp to the subwoofer. The problem is, I don't feel there is enough, if at all any bass produced. My creative subwoofer seems to have a better thump. I tried adjusting the crossover in the subwoofer, but still makes no difference. Am I doing something wrong or is it just the limitation of the amplifier?

Did you increase the volume of your sub (to maximum) and check?
Did you connect your sub directly to your source (no amp in chain) and check?

Hi Santy, tried increasing the volume, but it only make the subwoofer rumble and distort. But i tried connecting it directly to the system and the bass is amazing! I have the volume at about 50% in the subwoofer and system and the bass is very good. Am I not connecting the subwoofer to the amp properly? (I was a little worried, now I know there is nothing wrong with the subwoofer! )

What about SW cross over settings?Make sure that you adjust it correctly.Also stereo pre needs more volume in SW than that of LFE.

Was your issue resolved? If yes, how and how is the Polk sub performing now? I have this subwoofer in my list as one of the options.

Yes. The issue was resolved, apparently it was a cable thing. I'm yet to fully set up the system with the Denon AVR, but it was quite good with the Sonodyne amp and Polk speakers. I used to have the bass level at around 6 or 8 in the amp. There is also the fact that it was the cheapest that I could find at that time. It lacks the puch to my liking, that is for sure though. Considering Wharfedale MS-100, do look at other subs too.
