Pre-amp for Emotive UPA-2

Hi

I am desirous of buying Emotiva pre-power combo (USP-1 & UPA-2). Unfortunately, Emotiva is offering now, only the UPA-2 (Power Amp) on clearance sale for $299.

I can't buy the USP-1 w.o. offer. As such, what are my options? Are there any specific advantages of pre-power combo over an Int. Amp? If yes, pls suggest some other brands with the same reputation & price range. I have Wharfedale Diamond 9.5 FS.

Though I have not heard it why dont you look at XDA-1. From specs it appears good, the innards seem to be good too (from pictures though). If you are looking at digital sources and Cd's then this should be a good one IMO.

xda won't work as a pre in terms of more/ vinyl inputs. You can try a lyrita pre.

I recently heard the Emotiva 2 Channel Power amp ( Dont know the model NO.) But for me it sounded very bright. If you are buying the Emotiva then try to pair it with a smooth and mellow pre amplifier, this will at least make the system somewhat listenable.

Why cant you try the passive pre from Luminous audio.
