Hi,
I am in bit of a situation here.
I have a Harman Kardon AVR 635 7.1 receiver (6-8 years old purchased in US). Now I am doing a media room with proper 7.1 audio and would like to play BD with 7.1 HD sound and this AVR doesn't decode the new media. Also, it doesn't have HDMI input.
Now I have two options:
1. Replace the entire unit with new AVR. I am looking at Onkyo TX-818 or TX-1010.
2. Buy a preamp and use this HK as amp. The amp in HK is really good and it has 7.1 preamp input. My budget is around 50-60K. What are my options for a good pre-amp to go with this? Usage is 90% movies.
