Hi Guys

I have taken DAC Optical Audio Cable for connecting my LED TV (Samsung UA40D5500RR) to Yamaha RX-v671 so that I can play movies from TV USB drive or play youtube clips on TV and and audio from my HT, but I feel sound is Suppressed? Any idea ?

Thanks
YP

What do you mean bean by audio is suppressed? Low volume? Definitely it is not a problem with the optical cable since you can hear audio anyway. Play with your TVs audio settings.

Pfa??? didnt get it.. any who..
I am a an audioneub but just wanted to understand clearly before speaking abt it...anywho..just wanted to be clear.. but I guess you have a fair amount of idea abt the TV settings..HDMI/PCM/SPdif etc

I wrote pfa cause attached that image (maybe funny :-P)

And Audio Settings on TV .....I am getting SPDIF > PCM

I guess all I can say is.. you should be getting other settings right.. like Doolby Digital etc... (Thats what I remember from my TV though its grayed out) .. but I can always get back to you on this if unresolved by next weak when I get my receiver and its a Yams too.:)

But I would seriously hope you get a solution asap.. for your own heart's content

Yes Dolby Digital is enabled when playing movies from USB........

Yes Dolby Digital is enabled when playing movies from USB........

And now is it clear ... I mean the sound ???as it is expected to be..when running the audio thru an HDMI???
I feel the Optical cable might be of a damaged... as far as my substantial knowledge goes I feel If you put one end to a glowing LED & face it properly to see almost the same amount of light on the other end & also dont see any visible cable tears leaking the light, The cable is fine. In that case you should start fidgeting with all the TV/Receiver settings that you can find.

Hope you get it solved man.. :)

Hmmmm.....

Well maybe I was not able to explain my problem in my first post.......let me tell you again... Problem is the the sound which I get on -20 db while wathing TV through TataSky, I don't get the same while playing through USB for which I have connected the Optical Audio Cable....so for me I need to increase the volume till -10 db to get what I get on -20 db while watching TV through TataSky....

Thanks
YP

Hope you guys have tried this option in TV while playing the USB movie that has DTS/DD audio.

Tools -> Audio Settings -> Select the DTS/DD/etc

I get a decent DTS sound for my Reciever from Sammy TV through the Optical Audio cable.

Ahh yess!! now I get it... but i guess I have very little knowledge in that part.. usually I do a trial and eliminate method..

Yepp......... I have enabled Dolby Digital and ya its sounds better than PCM no doubt......but the problem I stated above is same.....
