Folks,
1. Want to know if anyone in HFV has used very long mini-hdmi cables (8-10 metres) along with the required adaptors to plug the mini cable into a normal hdmi femal socket and whether there is any noticeable loss in resolution ? Which brand of budget mini cables is recommended ? I cannot afford and do not believe much in high cost cables.
2. Looks like 1.5m is the max length of mini-hdmi cable available locally and 8-10m is not available. I checked in the MX cable store in Chennai. Whereas the normal hdmi cable is available in 10m length
3. Can HDMI cables be "crimped" (not sure if this is the right term) ? and if so any contacts in Chennai ?
My problem: the head of the normal hdmi cable that I have is a bit large to go inside the concealed pipes that I have laid in the wall and floor in my HT room and hence before running the hdmi cable in an exposed manner over the wall, I want to rule out other possibilities. My idea now is to get the hdmi to mini hdmi cable for about 8-10 m and use a suitable adapter to connect the mini hdmi into the female hdmi socket in my BenQ projector (the mini hdmi cable will easily pass through the concealed pipes in the wall and floor).
This way my existing 10m hdmi cable (1.3) will be redundant - but I hope to make it available for HFV members at a WIN-WIN price once my problem is solved :licklips:
Any inputs/suggestions most welcome
Thanks
Athulan
