Record player arm won't drop

I'm having a bit of a problem with my record player and I'm really hoping that someone could help me out.
I've had my record player for about three years already and never had a problem with it until now. The arm of my player won't drop, it stays at the level it's on when it's locked. Does anyone know what I can do to fix it? :sad::sad::sad:
