This is scary, happening in just 10 months of purchase. I guess these big brands are taking the consumers for a ride but whats the option otherwise if one is looking for top notch A/V quality. They are certain that the market is there and it sells, customer service... who cares.
I'm happy your's got replaced with a new unit, was the process easy or time taking with lot of followups. How is the new one treating? better than the earlier or same as before?
Hi Sir...
Thank you for your thoughtful input and concern. I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of Sony's exceptional video capabilities – its video processing and picture quality are indeed world-class, with other brands struggling to keep pace. However, I've consistently found that Sony's audio capabilities fall short of expectations.
My primary concern, though, lies with the recent quality control issues and catastrophic failures I've observed in several cases, often within the first year or two of use. This is unprecedented for a brand like Sony, renowned for its superior product quality and durability that typically lasts a decade or more.
In my own experience, I encountered an issue with my Bravia 9, although within the standard one-year warranty period, which fortunately resulted in a replacement with a new unit. Just think for a while, what could be the situation if it happens a couple of months later i.e. post warranty period? I'm not just thinking about me but many. While the new unit is functioning adequately, the uncertainty lingers, given my previous experience with the same brand and model.
Despite this, I'm willing to give Sony another chance, driven by my decades-long familiarity with the brand. However, if anything goes wrong, it will likely mark the end of my association with Sony.
Once again, I appreciate your concern and time, and I look forward to your thoughts.
Cheers...
