Sony has launched its latest portable Bluetooth speakers, the ULT Field 3 and ULT Field 5, in China. It features a 83mm × 46mm X-Balanced mid-bass driver and a 20mm dome tweeter, supported by a passive radiator. It delivers a peak sound pressure level of 85dB, maintaining crisp vocals and resonant bass despite its compact size. Furthermore, it sports Sony’s ULT mode, accessible via a dedicated button, which boosts low-end frequencies and expands the soundstage to simulate the feel of a full-sized speaker.
It comes with an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance, along with MIL-STD-810H-certified drop protection. It supports up to 24 hours of battery life, while a 10-minute quick charge adds about two hours of playback.
The ULT Field 5 brings a bigger setup, featuring a 107mm × 79mm woofer, dual 46mm tweeters, and side passive radiators. It cranks out up to 91dB SPL and offers a non-plugged maximum output of 110W. It supports two bass boost profiles through ULT mode: ULT1 (Submersion Mode) for deeper, softer bass, and ULT2 (Power Mode) for punchier, dynamic sound with brighter highs.
Also, it sports Bluetooth 5.3 with LDAC codec support for near-lossless audio quality and includes a 3.5mm high-res audio input backed by a 48kHz/24-bit ADC. The Field 5 supports 25 hours of battery life, offers quick charging, and comes with a battery care mode to extend battery health. RGB light strips on either side sync with your music and can be customized through the Sony Sound Connect App, which also offers EQ and lighting controls.
