Hi,

I want the audio and video signals to be transmitted from my Blu-ray player to the Samsung LED TV, without involving the AVR Denon X-2000. Is it possible ?

I have connected the TV-Bluray-WD player to AVR via the HDMI cables. The Bluray and WDtv HDMI have gone in the HDMI IN of the AVR and one single HDMI out has gone from the AVR to the TV. Also note that my Samsung Blu-ray player has only HDMI and Co-axial outs. It has no RCA neither optical outs. My TV has the audio/video port for RCA connections.

There are no issues of the connections, I enjoy the A/V through the HDMI. But suppose I have to play an inferior DVD or some USB content where I do not want the AVR to be involved, is it possible to play it directly on my TV without putting on the AVR.

First of all, HDMI passthrough (in AVR standby mode) carries both audio and video and is the way forward to this problem. I use it all the time and audio and video pass on well from HTPC to AVR. Also in standby mode AVR consumes single digit power figures, usually mentioned in their specs as standby power consumption.

However if you still want to keep AVR switched off, use one of this 3 Port 1080P HDMI AUTO Switch Splitter Switcher HUB Box: Amazon.in: Electronics on HDMI out of your WD Player so that one branch goes to AVR and another to TV directly. However be careful in selecting the right switch model (tons on Amazon.in) as not all of these switches are 3D compliant if that is your one of the criteria

i see u r suggesting HDMI witcher.. but he should go for splitter 1 input and 2 output ...

i use same way HDMI passthrough.. I see 0.1 W power consumption as per manual. However .. do u think any adverse effect on AVR .. ?

EDIT: I just noticed that OP's BDP doesn't have analog outs. So my suggestion below doesn't hold good for him. Sorry about that !.

I do the same thing OP wanted by running the analog A/V out from my BDP to the TV. If your BDP and TV support analog A/V, then you can consider doing this. But most of the latest BDPs omit analog A/V out. I am also running the analog A/V out from my HD STB to the TV as well. All the HDMI connections from my BDP and STB go through the AVR though.

I did this for ease of use for my parents and wife.

At least nothing that I found worth reporting in the last 3 years. All components running fine, use passthrough a lot. -- touchwood --
