Speaker/Amp combination

Hi

I was advised to go for the combination Mezzo 6 an CA 351a. This was specifically because I had mentioned that I may not utilize the full power of a floor stander like Mezzo 6. I generally don't listen to my music in a loud volume.

But I see that most customers combine Mezzo 6 with a more high-end CA 651a/851a.

Note, my listening areas is about 11X9 in an L shaped room of 22X18.

Mezzo 6 - Recommended amplifier power 15 - 150 watts
CA 351a - Power output (watts) 45

Given these inputs, any specific advice on this combo?

I was told that Mezzo 6 is going to be merged with CA. Based on this, I was given a discount of 15%. After discount the price comes down to 68K, but I see that the same speaker was offered @72K around 3 years back by the same dealer. It's partly my mistake becuse when I was told that I would be getting a 15% discount, I didn't bother bargaining further.

Is this still a decent price?

Music preference - Indian filmy (Hindi Tamil, Malayalam etc), Indian classical, Ghazals, Arabic, Country, Jazz, Blues, Slow rock.
Dislike bass-heavy and bright sounding music. Love music with a lot of details.

CA Amp with Mezzo is a good combination

However for a 22x18 room you will definitely need higher powered Amp say around 80 watts

Even if you do not play at high volumes I feel that a higher powered amp will give a better dynamic response

Thanks Jagadish. Though the room size is 22 X 18. The listening area in this L shaped room is only around 11 X 9 ft. Please find the room dimension attached.

The amp power requirement not dependent only on room dimensions or the Decibel/Volume levels you want.

I believe the CA 351 is grossly underpowered to drive the Mezzo 6. At least CA 651A or higher is required. Surprising as how the dealer is suggesting this. Also what is the price breakup of your speaker and amp combo offer from the dealer?
