Speakers (&Amp) from Dubai Outside of DSF

Hi

I was wondering if it makes sense to buy speakers (or amp) from Dubai during non-Dubai Shopping Festival time. A friend is coming in June and I was wishing to get Wharfes Diamond 10.1 & Marantz PM6004 from there. How much will I save if I get it compared to buying from India? Also what are some recommended shops?

It does make sense though you need to scout around for good deals. I very recently got a Yamaha RX V475 from Dubai for AED 1400 (app 24k INR). While the AVR package itself weighs 10 KGs, I dont know whether your friend would be able to lug speakers along with it. The airline excess baggage charges would negate any savings. In summary, you can expect a 25-30% savings at least with AVRs.

Dubai may have cheap electronics....the only issue is carrying the weight and ofcourse dealing with the Indian Customs .......the downside also is warranty.....simple logic why get it from abroad when most of the electronics are made in China / Malaysia and are available in India for almost the same rate...with warranty.....

Last year my cousin brother went for Dubai Shopping festival and wanted to purchase the NR 1402 Marantz AVR which costed me about 24k with warranty..the same was being sold for 28k in Dubai......

You may want to reconsider your decision...

If you are able to purchase electronics within the Rs 35,000 barrier, then it absolutely makes sense as no customs can be charged.

Also, Dubai during "NON DSF" time is actually cheaper than DSF time. I would know, as I was there for about 7 years. Best time to buy would be just after DSF as they are piled with non sold DSF stocks, and we can get get good deals during this time.

Okay, but buy from where? Can i shop / select online and get it delivered to friend?
