Speakers and Source system

Hello,

I am a new member here.
I am looking for a simple setup for my home. I mainly listen to ambient or soft music (English). I have a 1 BHK flat and looking for setup in living room and bedroom.
I am clueless about sound systems(Amplifiers etc) and thus ask for help.
I actually good speakers and a decent source.
Can anyone guide me.

My budget is at max 10k.
I am mainly looking for listening to music. For movies very rarely though.
I listen mainlly soft/instrumental songs but sometimes a bit of rock as well.

My source will be MP3. But I need the source system as well. I donot want to open the laptop to play music, so something independent and easy to use.
My flat size is about 800 sqft. Mainly I want the music in two rooms. 1 master bedroom and other living room.
The two rooms are not very big but they are separated by a galley.

10K is a really tight budget man! But its a start and you have to work carefully to get some good components. Still I would suggest you pare it down to getting one good system in one room of your choice. So decide where do you listen to your music the most> Bedroom or Living room?

For the budget you're putting out you will have to take the second hand route - which is a great way to get started. Look up the FOR SALE section here to start with.

I recommend you look for an integrated receiver as it will handle most of your common inputs plus give you a radio. Look around for a bargain and I am sure you will get something. You can connect your laptop/PC to start with but you can also use an iPod / MP3 player as source. Pick a set of decent speakers. Again for the price and your room size you should look at a bookshelf speaker.

I did a quick search on Quikr and olx and the search came up with 3-4 decent used amplifiers. Be patient with your search and wait for a bargain to come up.

Once you get started you will get to know what you like in terms of sound etc. When you get ready pick a second system based on what you've learned (hopefully from on here).

There are music solutions @ every price range. But it comes down to the fact that will it satisfy our listening expectations from the system.

In this range I recall a thread for the T20 amp. Please give it a search. The JBL one speakers and this amp would be a good budget solution.

Also exploring preowned equipment is a good option as audiophiles take really good care of their equipment. Sales section can help.

I can extend the budget, should not be a problem provided the set-up is good. From my little knowledge I should be looking for an AMP and speaker setup and avoid the AVR for my setup.
I also see Norge 2060 Amp is good but which source should I connect with.

I am now thinking of buying Cambridge Audio S30 speakers.
I think they should be fine with Jazz/Ambient music. I cannot audition as I live in Pune.
What's your take people?.

Have you auditioned anything till now. Quad 12L2/11L2 will be around 30-50K and will be good buys or wait for something good to come up in the for sale section. Go to AV Excellence on D.P Road, SoundnVision on East Street and Oceanic on East street for auditioning. There is another dealer in koregoan park who keeps Quad and marantz but I don't remember the address.
