Hello everyone , I am using sonodyne 2605 V1 floorstanding speakers from last year which were purchased from a fellow member on this forum . I was really happy and satisfied with its performance . They were connected to a denon amp .Recently i was out of town and there was a function in my society . The kids wanted big sound so they took one of my speakers and connected it to a cheap local amp . It didnt work with that amp . Also now it is not working with my amp too . The amp to which they connected the speaker didnt even have any polarity mentioned only 4? 8? and 16? . They connected +ve and -ve of the speaker wire to the 4? and 8? of the amp . Now only some sound is coming from this speaker . I think the mids and the tweeter is not working .
What could have gone wrong ? Please help . Now i am left with only one working speaker of the pair . Can it be rectified by myself or do i need to show to a professional ? I am from Navi Mumbai so also please suggest some good technicians .

Disconnect the speaker. unscrew the drivers. Take a pencil cell and a wire and test each of the drivers (hope you know what I mean!!). If they are good, something must have blown on crossover circuit.

Hi ROHAN

There should be some screw on the front side, may be its hidden behind the driver frame///

One of the major reason may be voice coil blown, before that just check as suggested by bornfi with a torch cell connecting + to + and other end to negative, see any response from driver (mid or tweeter) like stratching sound...

Or try the speakers with some other amp each driver seperately,or even check XOVER components inside the box or i doubt its VC Blown...if so then no alternate, have to buy new ones, coz reconditioning them wont give the original performance...

thanks

Possibly cheap low power amplifier with less juice may have driven it with clipping and destroyed voice coil.
Or simply transporting may have dislodged some snap in connectors on drivers or input cup.
