Hey Guys,

Appreciate the amount of knowledge that goes on around in this forum. I would love to tap into that for my home theater.

So i recently bought a Marantz 7008 receiver to handle 7.2 sound.
i have a fairly big dedicated room, approx 35x17x9 (LXWXH).

I am looking for suggestion on speakers for this setup. Typically a 7.2. 2 floor standers, one center, 4 surrounds, and two sub-woofers.

I cant seem to narrow on the three fronts speakers. I want something which would fill the room and is perfect for a cinematic experience. Loud!

Right now, i have been suggested the Dali Ikon 6 Mk2.

I would love to hear your suggestion/ recommendations.

Thank you in advance for all your help!:yahoo:

Forgot to mention the budget.

I would like the 7 speakers, not including the sub woofers, to come in between 1.50L-2L.

Thanks!

Ikon 6 would be an overkill for movies I guess? Why not get bookshelf speakers and invest more on the subs?

Would bookshelves be able to deliver the punch needed for a cinematic experience, for example, the polks RtiA9's has the crispy punchy sound. If you know what I mean.

Go for bookshelf's only if you are not serious about music. Buying FS will be a waste if you want just movies. Check Polk LSiM series bookshelf speakers well within your budget. Also look at JBL as the theaters in my locality use jbl speakers. I personally prefer Polk over JBL
Well that's a personal choice
BTW audessy is an auto calibration feature which cones with the AVR. It automatically adjusts the speakers size i.e.
Small : When you have a subwoofer to fulfill the lower sound spectrum LFE
Large: When you don't have a subwoofer in your setup Which can manage the LFE
You can however change the setting as per your requirements.

Thank you, will totally here em out :)
Maybe it's cuz of their size or maybe cuz they're called bookshelves, do you really think they could fill a room as large as my requirements?

Hi Varuunn

The Key is to audition as many speaker brands as possible and decide what will work for you in performance and budget....typically for Marantz, the brands that BLEND well would be Jamos / Boston Acoustics / B&Ws / Wharfedale / Definitive Technology / Dalis / Quads.

Wharfedale Obsidian 600 Home Theatre Package

Add the Boston Acoustic ASW 650 subwoofer.

OR

Boston Acoustics A 360 Home Theatre 5.1 Package

Add a pair of BA bookshelf to complete the 7.1 setup.

You can do a mix and match. Key is to audition as many brands and decide...ofcourse check on competitive rates with various dealers to strike a good deal....

All the best

Okay guys, one last question. Need your opinion and preferences.
Crystal Acoustics 7.2 T3 thx
Or
Polk Audio RTiA9 with the 660 subs and dispose surrounds for a 7.2

What would you buy plainly for movie sound in a huge room and with a Marantz 7008 AVR?

Thanks!

crystal acoustics has won many awards plus its thx certified. So my vote goes to crystal acoustics. However i have never heard crystal acoustics. The Polks i have heard rti series and know that they are not bad. GOOD LUCK:)
