When I checked in ebay for speakers, It is mentioned "not shipped to India"

What is the reason?
I have received many speakers by EMS and had no troubles till today.

Yesterday, my friend's sound bar was refused to ship by airline in Korea due to strong magnetic material.

Nowadays shipping speakers is very risky customs terms and norms is very strict than before in every country. So sellers not like to take that risk only few of them will ship internationally.

As we have good options to buy speakers in India itself avoid to buy from outside until you have someone to carry it from outside.cost of the product + shipping+costumes willl be a huge money. Why don you look good option from here itself.

speaker magnets are made from "rare earth "material and airlines claim they can cause the navigation to ( probably ) go astray.

But majority of the airlines do accept speakers once they are nicely packed.

You know what - they used to allow smoking on airlines 20 years ago - was that risky or dangerous ??

The point i am trying to make is that reasons may be genuine or invented from time to time.

Or maybe the folks want us to use a Make in India product :)

If you have that much money to import yes you can do it.There are several third party option like ishopinternational like services are there, they will simply do the job for you just give them the amount they quote. You will get anything imported.its simple as it is.

Dealers are importing stuffs via importer license they have the license to import there stuff via cargo. But this is not related with personal stuff import

tiger bhai

:-))

pack them well and i dont see the problem - just put it in the checked-in baggage.

these are quite common things which any DiYr gets from abroad to India.

obviously - i cant speak for the airline in question here.....

Hope you find a music lover who does your check-in baggage :)

Let me try as you have adviced but the size are little big.......

if you are coming from home to delhi - i dont see the problem in a checked in baggage - frankly.

sometimes one does get unlucky and sometimes the person at the checkin counter follows the "rules".

But before that i would assume the guy on the X ray machine would be asking you about the speaker..

keep your best smile handy :D

Delhi airport exit with speaker drivers should be no problem.

Make sure you pack them well so that there is no transit damage after all this trouble. That is what breaks the heart.

regards

Airlines do not refuse to carry magnetic products and it's also got nothing to do with nice packing, rare earth material etc as has been posted here.

For air shipment, magnets are classified as "dangerous goods" and there are certain regulations and packaging [nice!!! :D] requirements to be followed in order to ship them. Big shipments or importers/exporters conform to these norms and hence can transport these via air. For a small dealer it might not be worth it to go to all this trouble for just one small [relative] unaccompanied shipment.

I have brought speakers and drivers in my checked in luggage without any problem. I don't think you will have a problem for a couple of drivers.

Mostly it is a personal choice made by the seller based on first hand experience and sometimes heresay. Many sellers abroad told me they have heard stories about items getting "lost" in transit. I didn't believe them until it happened with one of my own items.

Yesterday, my friend's sound bar was refused to ship by airline in Korea due to strong magnetic material.

That's paranoia. Try a low-tech airline (such as Air India) who aren't aware magnetic material can interfere with the avionics of their plane ;) On a serious note though, shipping in the checked in luggage should not be a hassle. I have carried speakers without problem/objection.

I have twice carried speakers as checked in baggage without issue, the last in 2010 from Hong Kong. That would probably mean either Cathay or Air India.

Interesting tidbit:
Way back I needed to keep a pair of speakers near a CRT TV. This would have affected the picture of the TV.
A friend had a simple solution. He covered the driver magnets with household stainless steel bowls!

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
