Hi to everyone from a no-nothing newbie.
I have a Sony STR DE225 - Home Cinema type entertainment centre into which you can plug all AV feeds.
I use it linked to a PC, from which I feed a music source.
It has 2 Kenwood 100 watt 6 OHM speakers attached.
Recently, it has been emitting a violent spitting/sputtering sound that makes the speaker cones leap in and out.
The speakers appear to be perfect because on another amp they are fine. Also, on the Sony they are fine on Tuner setting (Stereo Radio) and will run up to maximum volume perfectly.
So the problem only relates to an external/auxilliary signal.
If anyone has a clue what the problem may be, I'd be very grateful for some advice.
Although I know its an old unit, the quality of sound has been superb for years and I'm loath to bin it without exploring all options.
