I have been in the market for the last 10 days now, searching foe a replacement to my Wega .
And it took a while to realize that plasma indeed is the right tech for normal bedrooms. Salesmen try too hard to sell lcd/led and know nothing about the tech involved.
If it wasnt for this forum , i would never have come to a conclusion . Now , as i have finalized the technology that i want , please guide as to which is a superior product in terms PQ , sound ,extras .
I have read on the forums that panasonic has an edge over samsung in terms of quality , but frankly samsung is the more appealing in terms of extras (usb port to be specific ) and overall looks. But according to some forum members, samsung has inferior pq (as compared to pana) and buzzing problem. I just want to know that is the difference marginal or is there really a difference in pq in comparison to panasonic.

My main viewing is the tata sky or the normal dvd player with built in home theatre with a little bit of ps3.
Please help me arrive at a decision . would be a great help .

If you want best PQ, then the Pana V20 series. (I didn't notice any difference in PQ between X20 & U20 - check it yourself in the showroom).

If you want VFM, then the Samsung C550. (I haven't seen this unit perform, only repeating general opinion on this forum).

If you want the best deal, then the LG PK550 (only ~ 60K). The one LG plasma I saw on display (the PJ350) was very good. But LG seems to have some quality issues that doesn't inspire confidence.

Cheers

For the viewing you have, go for the Samsung C550 or the LG its not a bad deal. Always go for a bigger size set 50" is any day better than 46" if you have the budget and space to use the same.

I am new here and I am also thinking of replacing my WEGA in my bedroom. Can you please elaborate on why you think plasma is the right tech for a normal bedroom? Thanks in advance.
