Hello!

My plans to add a sub were subdued thanks to the projector that I spent a small fortune on. Anyway, time has come to add the much needed element to my HT setup.

My setup comprises of an Onkyo TXSR608 + 2 Wharfedale 9.2 shelves. Though I am quite happy with usual TV viewing, I am certain that movies can definitely be better enjoyed with a Sub + Center.

Since I have the Wharfes, to keep the setup homogeneous, I am planning the SW150 + 9.CS.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Will the addition of a sub bring noticeable difference to music?

2. Is the SW150 an appropriate choice compared to a passive sub, considering that I have only 2 speakers connected at the moment?

Appreciate any insights.

ciao,

1. Nice set up you got there. Adding a sub will definitely make a huge difference when you play music unless you listen to Ghazals. :p

2. Also, go for an active sub as it sounds way better than a passive one even with 2 speakers.

And if you really want to improve your movie experience, try adding surrounds if your budget permits as the dolby digital or dts encoding makes a huge difference.

wharfedale SW150 is an excellent sub. you can also look at velodyne impact series. you need the sub more for movies to really hit the low frequencies. SW150 + 9.CS is a good combo.

Are you viewing it in pure short circuit stereo? If not, that might be why you're experiencing a lack of bass.

the wharfedale 10.2 should be more than enough punch you need. Mainly because as soon as you step away from pure stereo and start chopping up the sound into channels you'll lose the integrity of the sound youre getting / will get in pure stereo.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
